The problems in Haiti are many. It is a country where 60% of the population is illiterate. It is a country without a functioning educational system. In Haiti, one must be registered with the Catholic Church to go to school. There has not been a functional administrative system for civil registration and many are born and many die without being registered. … but there are great and positive changes taking place in this area.
One of my desires is to help by providing education. On my previous visits I have been running workshops on jewelery making, design and production. They have been a rewarding experience that also has recieved incredible good response from people in Haiti.
Many organizations running education at basic levels recognize that vocational education programs are lacking. They are needed both to engage and educate people and to create and open up for new job opportunities.
My idea is to start an educational program withing the jewelry industry. My goal is to start and support a process in arts and crafts.
